1. Be friends with yourself
Is there any need to remind you that you are your best friend? You are the only person who is certain to be along your side in the most difficult times of life. Take some time talking to yourself and discussing on what your goals are. Make sure you maintain positivity because you already know how much it hurts when somebody discourages or criticises you. If you dont trust yourself, who else do you expect to? Believe in yourself. You have within you to acheive everything you need to achieve. You just need to be sure about what you want. Give yourself to that cause completely. There will be people around you to pull you down, but if you are clear and confident, nothing will deter you.
2. Discipline yourself
Sun rises on time everyday. So do the birds and animals. Our heart and all other organs work restlessly just to keep us alive. You can imagine how disciplined they are. This disciplined and harmonious co-ordination has resulted in such wonderful things. We can also work wonders with a disciplined approach towards life. Set a schedule for your daily activities. Cultivate good habits. Of course, it will be difficult to persevere but remind yourself of the higher acheivements you aim at. Have patience, the result will always be sweet.
Set a planner or calender which you are comfortable and determined to follow. Regularly keep yourself updated about your progress. Be kind to youself but don't sabotage.
Ultimately, Life is a journey, and isn't it to fun to have an adventurous one? There are possibilities that the result of your efforts are not favaurable Or people don't respond as you expect Or circumstances don't cater to you Or you face some unexpected losses. You have two choices during such situations - either you can give up to your emotions, be dejected or angry and take harsh decisions, Or you can accept the situation, accept your emotions and take control of them. Take such occurrences as adventures in life and have fun overcoming them. It is just as trekking or hiking. It gives you immense pleasure and confidence. Harder the barriers, more the fun to overcome them.
4. Visualise the future
You already are told that "Dream is not what you see while you sleep, but Dream is what doesn't let you sleep"(-Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam). Visualise your future. Imagine the day when you have acheived all you had planned. Imagine how you behave to others. Imagine how powerful you are to help or inspire others. Imagine talking to your fellow beings how adventurous your journey was and how you overcame the hurdles. Isn't it fun? Isn't that person much better than the present you? Ask that you, what you need to do to now. Ask what are the fears you need to overcome. Do this as frequently as you can. The more you do, stronger the dream.
5. Be grateful
Whereever you are today, whatever you have achievedor you are about to achieve tomorrow, you hold the sole responsibility for it. You were the driver of vehicle. But there were so many people who helped you. Some accompanied you as navigators, some gave you company, some gave you food, some strangers guided you, some challenged you, some just had good wishes for you. Without all of them may be the journey was not possible. Holding gratitude not only for our supporters but also the critizisers gives you a lot of positivity. Even those you have challenged you hold a very significant role in life. Being grateful encourages you to offer to the society all the good things you have received.
6. Develop Trust
According to our Bhagavat Geeta, whatever happens is for good. Imbibe trust in Him. Trust that the supreme power always works for you. Everything is under control and there is nothing to panic. The only thing we can do is keep doing our tasks without anticipating the result. Our efforts are under our control, the results are not. Whatever the result be, our efforts are genuine and we have gained experience and confidence from it. Just make sure you have nothing to repent for in future.
7. Value Time
"A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life" said Charles Darwin. Take charge of your life. Blaming someone or circumstances is just an excuse. We have in front of us numerous examples for success inspite of all hardships. They just proved, "If there is a will, there is a way". When you learn to value your time, you know the right place to invest it. Success is the return for the investment of time you make. So, invest wisely.
8. Social Responsibility
"Lokah samastha sukhino bhavantu" is a very famous sanskrit sloka which which signifies the importance of our social responsibilities. The health and welbeing of the people around you have a notable influence on your capacity to lead successful life. Caring for others, supporting others, doing something useful for others, caring for the environment, for animals, for plants, etc makes you feel great about yourself. Do not expect people to acknowledge your help. Let the opportunity to help itself be the reward. The self realisation of being an small but significant part of the community is priceless. Be aware of the rise of self worth and positivity after that small deed.
